DMU Dubai enriches its student experience with visits by international mentors like Kevin Pieterson
Kevin Pieterson, Former England Test Captain, applauds DMU sports enthusiasts
Maha Khan, from Pakistan who has joined the Foundation programme at DMU Dubai and Augusta Christy, an Indian student, who has joined BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering at DMU Dubai couldn’t hide their happiness over meeting one of the favourite cricketers, the former England Test Captain, Kevin Pieterson.
“As a die-hard cricket enthusiast, it was a dream come true for me to meet Kevin Pieterson in person. In his interaction with us, he spoke about the impact of sports in higher education and the emotional and physical well-being of students. He was totally impressed with our campus facilities,” piped in an excited Maha Khan.
Pieterson, who also runs the Global Cricket Academy to mentor budding cricketers, visited the DMU Dubai campus to interact with DMU team.
Augusta Christy thinks that it is meetings with role models like this that make her campus life unique. She said: “World-class facilities, cutting-edge curriculum and a global experience that includes interactions like these make me happy that I chose DMU.”
The university has a strong focus on sports education and the DMU Leicester has an MSc Sports Management Course which explores the multi-faceted area of sport management, combining specialist sports modules with practical experience in the industry. DMU Dubai hopes to soon add this to the list of programmes it offers.
A range of internationally-themed experiences are available that enable you to gain an international perspective on campus at DMU. These experiences are designed to develop language skills and enhance intercultural awareness, without travelling overseas.
Life in DMU Dubai campus as in every other DMU campus is about improving the international experience for students through their interactions, internships, and other opportunities.
DMU Dubai students will also be offered the opportunity to transfer their studies to the UK campus at any point of the academic year to experience diversity and exceptional international career support by DMU Works.
DMU Dubai will start its first academic year in October with employability-focused undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that include BA (Hons) Fashion Communication & Styling, BA (Hons) Interior Design, B.Sc. (Hons) Psychology, BA (Hons) Business and Management, BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance, Law LLB (Hons), BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and B Eng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering and the MBA (Global).
The university will also offer a Foundation programme with Specialist Pathways that lead to their chosen undergraduate programme. This programme will help to bridge any learning gaps students may encounter later.
