The most chilling Polar Bear Pitching in history starts today
Oulu, Finland enjoys a pleasant breeze of -20 Celsius, a temperature that makes water freeze before it hits the ground. This is not stopping Polar Bear Pitching from happening. It’s just bigger and colder than ever before.
Polar Bear Pitching is famous for its finals, where entrepreneurs pitch from a hole, carved in the frozen Baltic sea. There is no time limit for your pitch, you can speak as long as you enjoy standing waist deep in 0-degree water. This year the water itself may even seem warm and the problems only begin when you get up from the ice hole. You might want to take your time in the water, since the winner goes home with 10 000 euros and loads of media and investor attention.
There will be 12 companies in the finals, 6 got their passes beforehand and the other 6 will be the best companies from today’s Dark Bear semi-finals. On top of that, there will be the world champion of Air Guitar and local ice hockey team Kärpät taking a dip as well. The finals will be hosted by André Noël Chaker, who won the speaker of the year prize in 2012, and our very own JBear.
Apart from the Pitching competition, there will be a day conference with world class keynotes, Investor Day and Winter Spa Village, where anyone can go to sauna and enjoy our paljus (a Finnish wooden Jacuzzi) right next to the final competition. After freezing day program, there will be really warm After Parties on both nights.
Polar Bear Pitching has gotten loads of media attention all over the world. This has led to all the companies in the finals seeing their sales skyrocketing and investments pouring in after the competition. But it truly takes courage and sisu (a Finnish word for the mind set of rather punching your way through a rock than giving up) to take part in Polar Bear Pitching, especially this year.

Polar Bear Pitching gathers already for the fifth time entrepreneurs, investors and media from around the world to Oulu on 6. - 7.02. The event is known for its finals where entrepreneurs pitch from an ice hole outdoors. During the two days there will also be a conference, evening parties and a winter spa village open to everyone.
