JLL s new graduate scheme campaign gets property going viral

London, 26th November 2014- JLL has announced the winner of its 2015 graduate social media competition, ‘A place with potential’, which has been designed to attract candidates from a wide range of social and academic backgrounds and to find those that have a flair for seeing the development potential in ordinary buildings/bricks and mortar.
Daniel Smith, from Cass Business School has won the prize of a fast-tracked interview for his picture entitled ‘unique dining experience.’
To raise awareness of property as a viable career choice post-graduation and promote the industry’s relevance to business, communities and the economy, JLL launched the ‘A place with potential’ competition as an opportunity for candidates to show the potential they see in the buildings or spaces around them.
Entrants sent pictures of buildings and spaces with potential via Facebook and Twitter together with a description of how they see them evolving in a bid to win the prize of being fast-tracked through JLL’s initial undergraduate test centre directly to first interview stage.
JLL’s campaign is part of the firm’s drive to widen the pool of talent from which JLL recruits and has to date included attendance at 22 graduate fairs, a new video and a graduate Twitter handle. JLL’s graduate training programme encompasses up to two and a half years training across the company’s business lines including support for personal development and APC training.
Lydia Corneck, Head of UK HR at JLL, commented: “As a firm we have a commitment to creating a diverse work force and reaching out to more young people that don’t necessarily have property degrees or experience to ensure we have a cross section of talent. Communicating property as an interesting, stimulating and exciting career choice is the only way to attract new talent. ‘A place with potential’ perfectly captures the relevance of the industry to the world around us and will reach out to graduates who may not otherwise have the sector on their career radar. The property industry has a collective responsibility to ensure that more of UK society takes a share in economic growth by widening the talent pool from which we recruit. From a business perspective nobody wants to miss out on potential new talent simply because they are not aware of the benefits of a career in property.”
