Infonetics Research Report Identifies Arbor Networks as World Leader in DDoS Prevention in Carrier, Enterprise and Mobile Markets

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Arbor Networks, Inc. was identified as the top supplier of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) mitigation appliances overall, as well as in the Carrier, Enterprise and Mobile market segments, according to a new report from Infonetics Research.
According to Infonetics, the combination of very high volume attacks driven by the use of reflection/amplification techniques, and the increasing sophistication and frequency of application-layer attacks, has significance for everyone, but particularly large enterprises and mid-sized cloud and hosting providers. Service providers continue to purchase DDoS solutions to protect their own infrastructure, and many carriers worldwide are buying DDoS products to build out managed services for their customers.
“The opportunity to make a capital investment in on-premises DDoS mitigation to deal with the cluster of lower-bandwidth attacks, and then hand off larger attacks to a dedicated cloud provider will drive both adoption of hybrid solutions and sales of hardware at the lower end of the market. Arbor has been the DDoS mitigation product market leader for more than a decade, and capitalized on the move to hybrid when they launched their Arbor Cloud multi-layered service. Despite a rapidly changing market, their business continues to be quite strong in all segments they play in,” said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst with Infonetics Research.
“The DDoS market has gone through a transformation in recent years, not only in the attacks themselves, but also in terms of the type and number of vendors offering DDoS solutions. Arbor has been in this market for more than a dozen years, and we have maintained our leadership position, something we’re quite proud of. We have deep relationships with the world’s largest network operators across the service provider, cloud hosting and enterprise markets, and some of the most knowledgeable people on the planet working every day on this issue. We’ll continue to innovate and deliver solutions that meet customer needs across all markets,” said Arbor Networks President Matthew Moynahan.
Arbor Cloud for Enterprise Multi-Layer DDoS Protection
Arbor Cloud is an integrated, multi-layer solution defending today’s complex DDoS attacks. This is achieved by integrating Arbor’s on-premise, always-on DDoS defense product with its cloud-based, on-demand traffic scrubbing service.
The Pravail® Availability Protection System guards against complex application-layer attacks and state-exhausting attacks that overwhelm traditional perimeter security devices such as firewalls and IPS. Augmenting the on-site protection is an integrated, on-demand traffic scrubbing service staffed by Arbor’s DDoS security experts. This cloud-based service defends against volumetric DDoS attacks that are too large to be mitigated on-premise.
With each layer of protection, Arbor delivers its industry-leading expertise and technology—whether through its on-premise solution or its globally deployed architecture for DDoS traffic scrubbing in the cloud. As a result, Arbor Cloud provides a single, carrier-agnostic solution that helps protect global enterprises from multi-layer attacks that evade traditional perimeter defenses.
Service Provider Portfolio
The world's leading ISP and cloud hosting providers rely on Arbor's Peakflow® DDoS protection platform to proactively fend off malicious threats such as botnets and volumetric and application-layer DDoS attacks, while strengthening the availability and quality of their services.
The Peakflow platform includes two main components, Peakflow and the Peakflow Threat Management System. The Peakflow solution combines network-wide anomaly detection and traffic engineering with Peakflow Threat Management System’s carrier-class threat management, which automatically detects and surgically removes only attack traffic, while maintaining other business traffic. With the ability to mitigate only the attack traffic, customer-facing services remain available while providers actively mitigate attacks. More than 60 service providers globally offer DDoS managed services powered by Arbor Networks.
