Sculptress Geraldine Gonzales’ sparkling, over-sized Flying Chair light installation headlines this extraordinary exhibition of limited-edition French collectibles curated by Territoire(s).

Territoire(s) brings a selection of the most beautiful and exclusive examples of French contemporary design to the Middle East for the first time. The one-off and limited edition pieces by French heritage brands and emerging artists form a collection of rare objects at the cross-section of art and design. Crafted from brass, copper and gold to ivory and fine hardwoods, the pieces celebrate the traditional skills of woodwork, glass-blowing, embroidery, marquetry, ceramics and lacemaking, taken to a new level and adapted to contemporary tastes. Exclusive items on sale include Pierre Vatrin’s sculptural, mixed-media, glass artwork Reverie and Pierre Renard’s elegant MOBIUS desk in European walnut.

Sculptress Geraldine Gonzales is one of the stars of the collection. Initially she specialised in surreal, paper light installations in the form of jellyfish, dresses and hunting trophies. Her work for Guerlain involved transforming shop windows into fantastical stage sets for passing shoppers. Then, two years ago Baccarat invited her to exhibit with ten female artists for Femmes de Lumiere, and working with crystals proved a revelation. Gonzales’ illuminated, sparkling, over-sized Flying Chair (or Ceci N’est Pas Une Chaise) is her biggest and most ambitious piece to date and one of the stand-out pieces on display.
