One of India’s best loved artists, the eminent Shri Jogen Chowdury is all set to wow Dubai art lovers in a first class Indian art showcase which opens in Dubai on Thursday 15 October.

Legendary Shri Jogen Chowdury, one of India’s best loved artists, has flown in specially to headline a very important art event, hotly anticipated by the region’s art community. Kala Sutra, which opens on Thursday 15 October at the RIRA Gallery, DIFC, Dubai is ready to play host to a glittering array of art lovers and celebrities during a special opening evening showcasing the top Indian contemporary and modern art.
It is only the second time such an important showcase has been seen in Dubai with Kala Sutra bound for Singapore on the next rung of its international tour. The event brought by Sanchit Art of New Delhi is in association with the Kataria Art Foundation and BAQAA Glamour Weddings & Events, is already hailed as the most significant Indian art events ever to be seen in the region. Those lucky enough to have a coveted VIP opening night invitation will be treated to a live rendition by the celebrated artist Shri Jogen Chowdhury and India’s top Curator, Arun Ghose who will be present for what promises to be a memorable evening.
Jogen Chowdhury’s arrival has caused something of a mini sensation in Dubai, particularly with the Indian community who are set to visit the event in their droves over the weekend. Chowdhury, the senior master has risen to the top echelons of art in India and is known globally for his unique style which combines ink, water colour and pastel. Chowdhury is in excellent company for the five day showcase, with his works featuring among India’s 16 most distinguished artists, each one an icon in his or her own style. Rare and never before seen pieces will be on display along with a special showcase of student interpretations of the master’s works. The event which opens on the 15 October for a private opening ceremony, at the RIRA Gallery, DIFC will continue for the general public from 16 October until 20 October, 2015. The event is free to all and offers something for everyone. Gallery opening hours are from 11am until 6pm daily.
Speaking about his curatorial vision for Kala Sutra, Arun Ghose, India’s most highly regarded Art Curator said “Each artist in this show serves as a visual link, forming a continuous chain in which dynamic rhythm vibrates with static vigour. Continuity of this thread re-establishes the strength and Indianness of Indian art, today” said Ghose.
