Supported by the UAE Ministry of Culture, Griet Van den Auwelant, a ceramic artist from Belgium received the 10-year golden visa.
Working and living in Dubai since 2007, Griet became a local celebrity in 2020 with the public art exhibition of XLIX, a grass roots art project celebrating the UAE's cultural diversity. Her creativity and experience add significant value to the ceramic arts scene in the UAE, and the reason to hand Griet the highly coveted golden visa.
Griet's artwork is sold to collectors around the world, from Panama to the USA to Belgium and right here, in the UAE. She was also among the first artists in the world to sell an entire NFT collection online, the digital works supporting her ceramic solo exhibition in Dubai called The Lucky 13.
Recently, Griet’s work was featured at Monaco art fair and at exhibitions in Madrid. Her solo exhibitions tell the story of magical ceramic dolls. Using digital interactive and immersive technologies she exhibits her art in the most unique manner, making the ceramic sculptures come alive.
Griet Van den Auwelant's current solo exhibition in Dubai "Galleria d'Arte Extraterrestre" can be visited at the BUT.gallery in Dubai Production City. The exhibition has been extended to January 3rd.
